Giving Treats to the Dog
Luckily for us W has always been very comfortable around animals because we have a friendly german shepard/collie mix. For awhile now she has been scared to get too close to W for fear of hurting him and getting in trouble. I have been trying to find ways to fix this for many months. Then I learned that while at my parents' house W had learned how to give their dog treats. I guess he would give them until they were gone if given the chance, and what dog doesn't love getting treats! I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it before. So I have started to allow W to give Bisou (our dog) her treats throughout the day. Surprisingly the relationship is still not great, but improving. Now the biggest problem is trying to get W to understand that she only gets one treat at a time!

Summer fun
We have been enjoying swim lessons so much that I was surprised to hear about kids that don't really enjoy the pool. Wyatt is just a complete fish, anytime there is water around he has to touch it. Luckily he gets plenty of opportunities to get into the pool at my parents house, of course it is only a little kid wading pool. But that is perfect for him right now. And of course we take him to the pool as often as we can and all play around.
Recently it has been crazy hot and I just can't really handle him at the pool myself. So I figured I would try to set up the sprinkler we bought this summer. I wasn't sure he would really be interested in a sprinkler since there wouldn't be a lot of water to splash around in. Not long after nap time I got him all covered in sunscreen and dressed for the sun and then we went outside. He was enthralled with the sprinkler. The water going everywhere in the air. He must have stood completely still for a whole minute just trying to understand what was going on. The smile on his face was priceless, I regretted not having the camera with me! He finally decided to check it out and had a ball.
We played out there for about 45 minutes just laughing and enjoying the water. Then we had to water all the flowers, since that is his favorite thing to do outside right now. And they he fell fast asleep. I guess that the sun really does wear you out!
