I have been told over and over how important it is to keep young children on a schedule for their days. It is always in the back of my mind. I have yet to figure out a way to actually get the schedule thing figured out. I mean there are the basics, like when we eat meals and when he goes to bed, but other than that... well I just tend to go with the flow of each day.
This turns into a problem when I can't get anything done because I have no schedule! I have learned in the past 2 weeks that the schedule might actually help the child because the parent stays somewhat sane knowing how long they have to endure certain parts of the day. I am always amazed when I am talking to another mommy and she tells me everything her and her child(ren) do in a day. I'm happy that we all had showers, clean clothes and food! Then again maybe I'm just a little too new to this whole mommy thing and am still learning the ropes. One day at a time I guess.

Swim Lesson
Personally having a fear of the water, it made it very difficult for me to get into the pool for swim lessons, that was not the case of W. He was ready before the teacher wanted anyone to get in. Of course I am sitting there thinking he must have been put in the wrong class. It is for kids 18 - 36 months, specifically for 1st time swimmers. He is just short of the 18 month mark but I guess they figured he would be alright. And surprisingly he was fine when it came to the kicking portion of the class. He loved the attention he got from the instructor. He even seemed to sort of understand the concept of using his arms to move the water. The biggest problem came with dipping in the water. He was not a fan of putting any portion of his head in the water. But we pushed through without a major issue.
Then came "jumping in" from the side of the pool. Yeah right. He doesn't understand stand still right now, do you really think he though about jumping when I was holding him? Nope! I sort of counted to three each time and then lifted him in, sort of like if he had jumped. He was alright with it, but I'm pretty sure the concept was over him.
After 30 minutes of continuously praying that we didn't have a complete break down so close to lunch and nap time, we got our instructions for the next weeks goals... blowing bubbles! I know it sounds absurd. He won't put his face in the water and this instructor thinks he might actually blow bubbles next week?? Well I guess we will just have to wait and see. I am still going to be satisfied if we can make it through the 30 minutes with throwing such a fit that we are asked to leave the class permanently.
